1 person seriously injured in crash between electric bike, car

One person was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after a crash involving a car and an electric bike, according to Boston police.

The crash happened at 5:08 a.m. on Columbia Road at the intersection of Quincy Street.

Police said one person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The bike was left in two pieces, and a Jaguar sedan with a shattered windshield was at the scene.

Columbia Road was closed in the area for several hours, and motorists had to find alternate routes.

Police initially described the bike as a motorcycle.

The crash is under investigation.
